Everyday for the last few weeks I've made the point of starting or ending my day (sometimes both) with a 'Thank You' prayer along with a meditation.
I don't take credit for coming up with this prayer, I got the idea from a shaman I met, and loved how simple but powerful it is.
Essentially what I do is just allow my mind to flow, and say the first thing that comes into my mind, listing off all the things I am grateful for in the moment. Any lul in space I just fill it with 'thank you's until something else comes up. For example:
Thank you for my family, my mother, father, brother, dogs, thank you for my home, my bed, food, water, air, the earth, sky, ocean, sunrise, the moon, thank you thank you thank you, thank you for my friends, (sometimes list of names of people that pop into my head), thank you thank you.....etc.
And I will go until I feel like stopping. When I do stop, my whole being radiates love and light, and I can't help but to smile. There is so much in my life for that I am grateful for, every single day.
On another note, this past weekend was canadian Thanksgiving!
On Thanksgiving Monday I spent all day in the kitchen, experimenting with different textures and flavors, just having a blast cooking all sorts of different foods. I'm not much of a recipe follower, I enjoy just getting creative with flavors and textures, making things up as I go, and see what I end up with. Using fresh herbs I picked from our garden, I made a herb butter rubbed turkey, made gravy and cranberry sauce from scratch, rye bread stuffing with apples and cranberries, raosted veggies, two graham cracker crust pumpking pies, and tosessed together some salad (ofcourse with some help and company from my friends and family).
Then later that evening 17 of my favorite humans in the world came over and devoured the meal with me.
Oh my amazing brother also brought over his homemade cream puffs and cheesecake (seriously, how'd I get so lucky??)
I kept looking around the room, amazed. Some of these people I've known for years, others I've recently just met, but all of them I love and adore, each one so dear to my heart. I can't even explain the feelings
of watching them all coming together in the same room.
I can't say it enough. I am grateful for every single one of you people who shared the night with me. In fact, I'm grateful for everyone who has have ever been a part of my life. I am grateful for the lessons I've learned. I am grateful for who I am and where I am today. I am grateful for every single day in this crazy beautiful life.
With all my love. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
